Rescue Me: Sugar the Pit Bull

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Age: 4 Years
Sex: Female
Location: Currently in foster care in Los Angeles, CA

Sugar is an amazingly sweet pit that was rescued from the shelter over a year ago. Her angel of a foster mom pulled her out of the shelter in terrible condition. She was clearly abused and malnourished. She had acid burns on her body, and there was sadly evidence that this sweet girl had been subjected to back alley c-sections! A few veterinary visits later, lots of love, and time to heal has completely transformed this girl!

Sugar’s foster mom is leaving for grad school to study pet therapy and can not bring Sugar along since she has a hard time getting along with other dogs/cats. Sugar is best suited for a single-pet home in which she is the center of attention. Can you blame her after what she’s been through? She has not shown any human aggression and just wants a forever home to curl up in and call her own. If I didn’t already have two dogs of my own I would have taken Sugar home with me - that’s how much I loved her!

If I could offer Sugar a home in which she’d be the only dog, I’d adopt her in a heartbeat. Instead, I’ll do what I can to spread the word about this very special girl. Thank you, Mod Dog, for helping her. Let’s all try to get her a home!

I’m so glad that you are there for her — what a cutie! Sad to think there is an animal shelter not taking care of it’s pets. I use http://www.dogreatgood.com to support legit animal shelters. They donate to pet rescue groups for each internet search you do with them.

  5. Jane Says:

  8. Animals Away Says:

She looks like a precious little pitbull and very sweet. These dogs often times get a bad rep but many of them are very caring.

  9. diana maloney Says:

It’s so sad that the very qualities which led to pitties being called “nanny dogs” in the old days, are the ones which encourage low life humans to train them to be bad. They are intelligent, and above all, loyal and obedient. How sad that irresponsible humans have given them reputations that prevent them from being adopted.
